Our Intensive In-Home Service offers individual and family counseling/therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services to children 3-18 years with a mental health diagnosis. The Mental Health Support Program offers case management and supportive counseling to adults 18 and over with a mental health diagnosis. Our Therapeutic Day Treatment Program serves children ages 2 to 16 years with behavioral disorders and mental health diagnoses who are not able to manage appropriate behavior within traditional settings. The program will utilize verbal and picture exchange communication with emphasis on positive behavioral reinforcement to teach social skills and age appropriate emotional expression. Commonwealth Catholic Charities hosts 8 and 12-week support groups to assist youth and women recovering from trauma. Groups help participants to heal from abuse and neglect, improve self-esteem, let go of guilt and anger, and build healthy relationships. The youth support group is designed for immigrant and refugee youth or youth of immigrant and refugee parents. The group offers emotional help and support in an interactive counseling session utilizing art materials. Participants must be age fifteen or older to attend. The group lasts 12 weeks and is billable to insurance or Medicaid. Sliding scale fees are available for anyone who is uninsured. Children with limited English proficiency are welcomed through the art-based curriculum. Classes meet every other Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. at 1512 Willow Lawn Drive in Richmond. The women’s support group assists women recovering from trauma associated with domestic or sexual violence experienced as a child or as an adult. Participants must be eighteen or older to attend. Our Refugee Resettlement and Immigrant Services programs provide school liaison services to refugee and immigrant youth. We strive to create a collaborative effort between students, parents, and schools in which youth can fully benefit from our American education system. Our program serves as a comprehensive multicultural resource to support the needs of all refugee and immigrant children.
